If you find that you need to improve your technique but don't
seem to make the time to practice drill; if you want to hone specific
skills with guidance but don't want to commit to multiple weeks;
if you're short on cash and time; or if you are simply looking
to practice with other people in the classroom setting Temple
of Poi provides, join us for this fun way to get in an awesome
technical practice. This drop in class is a 20 minute meditation
class consists of drills for various moves to aid artists in perfecting
their timing, lines, smoothness and muscle memory.
Each session will have its own focus and the specific focus for
each session is listed on the web site. Session will offer drills
for a variety of moves and combinations, including some of the
following:
- wall plane weaves
- barrel rolls
- anti spin barrel rolls
- same and split direction flowers
- spin, antispin and hybrid flowers
- isolations
- stalls
- wraps
- short poi work
- extended poi work
- archer weaves
- buzzsaws
- behind the back weaves
- waist wraps
- glitter needle turns
- under leg moves
- split direction weaves
- polyrhythmic movement
- polyrhythmic isolations
This meditation class is designed to be repeated as the curriculum
varies each session based on the focus pattern and the students
needs. To maximize the value of these classes, class size is small
and each student receives individual focus from the instructors.
Each of the classes meets for 80 minutes.
Prerequisites
Students should have some comprehension of the focus of the drills.
