If you struggle with any of the following:
- tripping over your feet when you turn
- losing your balance
- feeling like your poi are getting away from you
- under leg movements
- behind the back weaves
- back bends
- kicks
- leg lifts
- over head movements
- balance moves
and you don't know what to do, then join us for this fun way
to get in an awesome core conditioning poi workout. This drop
in class is a 30 minute meditation class consists of drills for
to assist with the aforementioned challenges. The class will also
do core exercises to help develop the artists connection to their
center, thereby improving their balance and ability to control
the poi.
Core conditioning drills will be offered for the following moves
and combinations:
- wall plane weaves
- barrel rolls
- anti spin barrel rolls
- same and split direction flowers
- spin, antispin and hybrid flowers
- isolations
- stalls
- wraps
- short poi work
- extended poi work
- archer weaves
- buzzsaws
- behind the back weaves
- waist wraps
- glitter needle turns
- under leg moves
- split direction weaves
- polyrhythmic movement
- polyrhythmic isolations
and students may request drills for any other move or combination
of their choice.
This meditation class is designed to be repeated as the curriculum
varies each session based on the students needs.
To maximize the value of these classes, class size is small (6
or less) and each student receives individual focus from the instructors.
Each of the classes meets for 80 minutes.
Prerequisites
Students must know 80% of the movements described above.
