This drop in class is a 30 minute meditation class focused on
creating balance in the body by focusing on each of the movements
used to create the overhand and underhand archer weaves. The session
will drill a specific move sequence that allows practitioners
to notice where they could improve their archer weaves the most
and will do so through the practice of this sequence.
The class will use the following movements in the asana sequence:
- 2 beat weaves - overhand, underhand, right and left hand leading
in each direction
- 2 beat archer weaves - overhand, underhand, right and left
hand leading in each direction
- 3 beat weaves - overhand, underhand, right and left hand leading
in each direction
- 3 beat archer weaves - overhand, underhand, right and left
hand leading in each direction
- side to side weaves
- side to side archer weaves
- weave turnarounds
- archer weave turnarounds
- archer arm switches
- archer back bends
The first time through the sequence will be more detailed and
allow students to understand the basic sequence. Each subsequent
time through the sequence focuses on the specific technical aspects
of the moves to allow the practitioner to gain increasing precision
and presence to their practice.
This asana and meditation class is designed to be repeated. Through
consistent and repeated practice of the specific sequence, practitioners
gain control and competence with all the pieces of this asana
resulting in improvements in their overall flow and performance
skill.
To maximize the value of these classes, class size is small (6
or less) and each student receives individual focus from the instructors.
Each of the classes meets for 80 minutes.
Prerequisites
Students must know 80% of the movements described above.
