Int. IIA: Introduction to Polyrhythmic Poi


Course Overview

If you have begun working with polyrhythmic moves and are looking for effective combinations to integrate them within, then this series if for you. Students begin by learning basic polyrhythmic combos including:

  • anti gravity weave turns
  • 4x2 hip reel/pinwheel combos
  • snail turnarounds

In addition, students will learn combos which use various intermediate moves including:

  • 5 beat weave
  • glitter home weave
  • snail
  • 2x1 thread the needle
  • 2x1 hip reels
  • 2x1 pinwheels

These combinations are customized based on the students skill level and current level of development.

To maximize the value of these classes, class size is small (6 or less) and each student receives individual focus from the instructors. Each of the classes meets for 80 minutes.

Prerequisites

Students must have attended the Int. IIA: Introduction to Polyrhythmic Poi class series or equivalent by knowing how to do 80% of the following moves:

  • 5 beat weave underhand
  • glitter home weave
  • snail overhand and underhand
  • 2x1 thread the needle
  • 2x1 hip reels
  • 2x1 pinwheels

Students must know how to do some polyrhythmic moves consistently.
