Course
Overview |
|
 |
During this four-week series, artists will learn a piece of choreography
using one or more moves from different concentrations (i.e., wall plans, behind the back, polyrhythmic, stalls, etc.). After learning
this choreography, artists then practice the sequence using different
styles of music to explore working with the rhythm and flow of a sequence.
Each class will include drills of the combo to help artists have
access to the combo as they might a move.
Artists are also asked to develop a combination on their own to be introduced, practice and explored with different styles of music with the emphasis on expressing the pattern with a fuller, richer and more unique diversity than ever before.
This class also includes exercises to help the artist develop
their performance personality as a dancer. Each week the instructor
will offer each student specific suggestions based on their movement
style to expand their skills. Students will also perform for each
other and get feedback from their peers.
This series may be repeated multiple times as each offering of
the series will use a unique piece of choreography and explore
various music genres. Artists will explore ways of emphasizing
moves and matching them to the music.
