Intermediate IIxy Poi Intensive

In this 16 hours of training, students
will begin their exploration of various poi concentrations
and the moves and combinations representative of the concentrations.
In contrast to the Intermediate II
Poi intensive where students gain a working knowledge of the
following 6 concentrations:
- polyrhythmic
- multibeat
- wallplanes & lockouts
- stalls
- split direction
- behind the back
In this 16 hours of training, students choose 2
concentrations upon which to focus by selecting 2 of the following
classes, focusing the entire curriculum of each series:
In addition, this program offers some performance
concepts that support the development of the artist's style including
an introduction to choreography using the new moves they have
learned.
Prerequisites
Students should be able to do 85%
of the following moves/combinations before entering this series:
- sweeps - turning left and right
- pinwheels - 2 same direction, 2 split direction
- corkscrews - 2 same direction, 2 split direction
- butterflies and take outs - overhand and underhand
- weaves - overhand and underhand
- stalls - single hand and both together
- stall/wrap combinations to go from same direction to split
direction
- hip reels - 2 same direction, 2 split direction
- thread the needle - overhand and underhand
- butterfly turnarounds - turning left and right
- weave turnarounds - turning left and right
- weave pinwheel turns - turning left and right
- buzzsaws - 2 same direction, 2 split direction
In addition, students must meet all requirements
of the 2 selected (X and Y) Intermediate
II classes as described on the class pages.
This class is physically demanding. Students will
be practicing poi multiple hours a day in class, as well as some
time on their own. Students should have strong upper body strength
and be reasonably fit to sustain their energy through this class.
