Flamethrowers in California

From Tedward on the NAFAA list:

The following is a communique from the State fire Marshal’s office
regarding a “flamethrower” bill that’s been long in coming into law.
It’s scheduled to go into effect July 1st 2009 and puts strong
prohibitions on devices that “shoot flammable LIQUID more than 10 feet”.

Because of work done by NAFAA and ASEPO, fire breathers are not
affected by this, nor are most propane devices. However, some of the
devices found on the playa may fall under this bill and become
‘military grade weaponry’ legal status for ownership and use in the
state of California.
